Hoot Studios Kickstarts Growth with appointment of Eleri Povall-Jones

Hoot Studios has announced the appointment of Eleri Povall-Jones to its sound team.

The appointment comes at a time when the Cardiff based audio post production facility is expanding.  Hoot signed up for the Kickstart Scheme as a way to find applicants wanting to enter the film, TV and games industry with an interest in sound.

“We decided to use the Kickstart scheme for a number of reasons” said Rhys Young, Senior Sound Engineer and Manager at Hoot. “It's a great scheme that allows employers to help give people aged 16-24 the opportunity they need to get into the industry. We’ll be providing training in all aspects of audio post-production and we’re looking forward to seeing Eleri’s skills and career develop.”

Povall-Jones’ role at Hoot will be varied, assisting with voiceovers, ADR set-up, audio books and sound editing. In addition to the sound recording, Eleri will also be given the opportunity to learn about client bookings and scheduling.

A graduate of the University of Gloucestershire, she joined the Kickstart scheme after finding it difficult to break into the industry. “I’m excited to join the team here at Hoot and hope to support the growth of the company as I work on many of the diverse array of projects that come through the door.”

“Our plan is to train Eleri in every element of sound that Hoot is involved with” Young continues. “We want her to learn as much as possible about the techniques and skills we use each day, but also about the wider industry and the way it’s evolving. We also wanted to bring someone onto the team that showed the clear potential to learn and grow their skillset during this exciting time for the company.”
